Shopping in Bergen — My Local Tips

Norway is expensive, and Bergen isn’t a city I’d visit just for shopping. You won’t find every international fashion brand here, but there are useful places for clothes, groceries and Norwegian gifts.

Shopping Centers

For a short visit, stay in the city center and try Galleriet, Xhibition or Bergen Storsenter. They’re convenient rather than huge, with a mix of Norwegian shops, familiar chains and everyday essentials. Lagunen is larger but farther away, toward the airport.

Groceries & Easy Meals

Norwegian supermarkets often sell similar products, but prices vary. I recommend REMA 1000, KIWI or Coop Extra for everyday groceries. If you’d like a good ready-to-eat snack or simple meal without another restaurant bill, try MENY. Some branches offer prepared or hot food.

Souvenirs & Norwegian Brands

Start around Torgallmenningen for souvenir shopping, including Norwy, or browse the little shops around Bryggen. For Norwegian knitwear and outdoor clothing, look for Dale of Norway, Norrøna and Scandinavian Explorer. They’re not always cheap, but can be worth exploring.
